Under the general direction and supervision of a Chief Building Engineer and/or a Facilities Manager, the Electronic Equipment Tech II performs complex tasks related to testing, troubleshooting, operating, maintaining, repairing, and installing building emergency and other full generators systems and system components. Troubleshoots and repairs live electrical circuits, working with voltages from 0-600 volts. Inspects, tests, maintains and repairs generator components such as alternators, speed controls, regulators, wiring harnesses safety devices, shutdown devices, 12- and 24-volt battery systems, cooling systems, fuel systems including day tanks, block heaters and other generator components. Diagnoses and repairs emergency generators and ATS switches. Performs preventive maintenance on Cummins, Detroit Diesel, John Deere, Caterpillar, Katolight, and MTU engines. Performs site inspection and maintains a clean and neat work site. Enforces local, state, and national fire and electrical building safety codes and insurance requirements. Performs related duties as required; duties are performed under general supervision. May lead Electronic Equipment Tech I's in the performance of their duties. Develops/maintains a current knowledge of local, state and national codes as well as equipment/technologies associated with commercial building generator systems.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Any combination of education, experience, and training equivalent to the following: High school graduation or a G.E.D. issued by a state department of education; plus completion of an apprentice-level vocational training program in electronics; and two years of experience in the maintenance and repair of the electronic and electromechanical equipment specific to the position.
