Job Description Summary:

The Senior Assistant Director, Slate reports to the Associate Dean of Undergraduate Admissions and is part of a team that maintains the undergraduate instance of the Technolutions Slate system for the Office of Admissions. This role will provide knowledge in support of admissions initiatives including event management, building queries, communication support, management of admission applications, document management, data uploads into Slate, and data integrations with the Student Information System and other campus systems.

The Senior Assistant Director, Slate will support business processes that allow staff to work smarter and more efficiently in support of critically important department and university goals. This position will document Slate functionality and business processes for use by the Office of Undergraduate Admissions and some college partners across campus. This individual will keep the Undergraduate Admissions office current on known issues in Slate platform relevant to enrollment discussions. Additionally, they will coordinate with the Slate team to apply their knowledge and creativity in creating and building solutions as part of a team. The Senior Assistant Director, Slate builds solutions by collaborating on new functionality, providing timelines, developing processes in Slate as needed, as well as testing, documenting, and implementing a training plan.

Responsibilities and Duties Include:

Responsible for the day-to-day management of the Undergraduate Admissions instance of Slate CRM and acts as one of the Slate Captains within the Undergraduate Admission Office. This includes:
  • Respond to tickets filed by university colleagues, escalating as necessary.
  • Solve simple Slate issues for department staff.
  • Run routine data loads from third-party vendors into Slate.
  • Monitor Slate forums on behalf of the Slate Team to keep colleagues aware of known issues.
  • Review audit queries to assure data integrity.
  • Maintain queries for campus partners.

Maintain and document the Admissions undergraduate instance of Technolutions Slate. This includes:
  • Support admissions staff and campus partners by documenting day-to-day functionality within Slate.
  • Develop Slate Scholar and user manuals.
  • Maintain online forms in collaboration with University Marketing and Communications
  • Develop and maintain a Slate calendar tracking routine tasks the team must complete every year.
  • Update and improve datasets.

Ensure data integrity in Slate. This includes:
  • Responsible for the process of data exchange with third-party vendors.
  • Clean and import data into Slate on demand.
  • Inform stakeholders of changes in data structure to align campus reporting mechanisms.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to troubleshoot data integrations with the student information system.
  • Support efforts to manage duplication of records within the Undergraduate Admissions instance of Slate

Other duties as assigned, including but not limited to:
  • Attend the annual slate Summit conference, webinars, and other professional development opportunities.
  • Perform system configuration, maintenance, enhancement, and quality control processes for all applications, forms, decisions, application review, communication, events, and portals, etc.
  • Serve as one of the primary technical liaisons for Slate CRM with internal campus partners (i.e. Information Technology, Registrar, Academic Advising) regarding data within the Undergraduate Admissions instance of Slate.
  • Assist the enrollment leadership team with the daily and long-term management of the division, including dashboards, reporting, and implementation of new technology.
  • Leverage new technology and new system features to maximize efficiency and customer service.
  • Assist with large-scale admissions events (i.e, open houses, accepted student days, etc.)
  • Develop knowledge of the GW undergraduate admissions instance of Slate, with expertise in position-specific areas (e.g., Reader construction, event building, college partner data queries, etc.).
  • Stay current on standard processes as an active member of the Slate community.
  • Perform system configuration, maintenance, enhancement, and quality control processes for all applications, forms, decisions, application reviews, communication, events and portals, etc.

The incumbent may perform other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
Minimum Qualifications:
Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization plus 5 years of relevant professional experience, or, a Master's degree or higher in a relevant area of study plus 3 years of relevant professional experience. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
