Responsibilities

Peraton is currently looking for a Cloud Engineer to support Threat Hunting's Threat Intelligence Data Strategy and CSD Operational Visibility Strategy. Threat Hunting's unified data-centric approach to operations will modernize and transform Threat Hunting as part of the Vivid Vision effort. The basic tenants of the strategy include - secure, use, and manage threat intelligence data to improve CISA and stakeholder timely incident reporting and situational awareness.

Location: Arlington, VA - flexible for remote/telework; preference for someone that can come on-site as needed.

You will have the opportunity to:

    Develop solutions integrating AWS clouds (public and government community) with services hosted on premises and in other clouds
  • Define and implement secure networking solutions between on premise data centers and commercial clouds
  • Define and implement cloud-based solution architectures
  • Install operating systems and application software in cloud compute environments
  • Define, document, and implement procedures for backup of on premise and cloud-based systems and data
  • Monitor cloud-based systems and components for availability, performance, reliability, security, efficiency, and ability to meet non-functional requirements and service level agreements
  • Develop and maintain software solutions / scripts to support automation of cloud configuration and administration
  • Ensure that AWS cloud-based infrastructure meets security and compliance requirements. Work with IT security and compliance teams to implement security and compliance controls and ensure that they are being followed.
  • Collaborate closely with other developers, operations, and security teams to ensure that AWS cloud-based infrastructure meets the customer's mission requirements and support its goals.
Qualifications

To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:

  • Bachelor's Degree in STEM and a minimum of 12 years' or Master's and 10 years or Phd and 7 years of re;ated experience.
  • At least 10 years' experience developing, configuring, and managing secure networking solutions to support communications between internal and external systems
  • At least 5 years' experience implementing cloud architectures in AWS
  • At least 5 years' experience developing, configuring, and managing cloud-based systems supporting enterprise web-based applications
  • Agile development team experience
  • Experience with Splunk Enterprise, Iris, Vault, Cloudflare, Terraform. Kubernetes Cluster, AWS EC2 (Elastic Cluster), and Helm
  • Experience implementing and managing DevOps pipelines for cloud-based workloads
  • Scaled Agile Framework experience (Gitlab)
  • Defining and implementing security strategies, policies, and procedure for AWS cloud-based systems.
  • Establishing connections to and from various cloud network types, managing firewalls, and setting up VPNs with networks on premises.
  • Ability to obtain a Top Secret Security Clearance
  • The selected candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a favorably adjudicated DHS background investigation (EOD) for continued employment.

Preferred Qualifications:
Candidates with these desired skills will be given preferential consideration:

  • AWS Cloud Certification(s)
  • Working knowledge of AWS, VMWare, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Palo Alto Firewall, AppGate Zero Trust Network Access, and other Linux or Windows-based technologies, Ansible, CloudFormation
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with virtual computing, AWS, data lakes, data mesh, and AI/ML technologies.

Target Salary Range
$146,000 - $234,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
