What You Will Do:

Gannett Fleming is seeking a Construction Manager for Transit Facilities to join us in Northern Virginia - Washington DC location.

This position is highly responsible, managerial, and supervisory to support construction program's. This position requires an effective team leader who can mentor project team members and foster a working environment where culturally diverse project staff can work together cooperatively to deliver the project on-time and on-budget. The CM will be responsible to manage all aspects of the contractors performing the work.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage Field activities
  • Coordinate the work with all contractors, and shall be responsible for ensuring all project deliverables are in conformance with the technical specifications and contract
  • Communicate to the contractor construction techniques and changes where necessary to enhance job safety as directed by client's safety department
  • Lead weekly construction progress meetings, readiness review meetings, third party coordination meetings, design coordination meetings and other construction meetings. Publish meeting minutes
  • Recommend, if appropriate, construction techniques to expedite the program
  • Provide technical analysis, cost analysis support, and review of all requests for changes submitted by the construction contractor. Manage the activities associated with the changes to the construction contractor's work (Request for change, change notices, change orders, contract modifications, etc.)
  • Preparation and distribution of correspondence, memoranda, action lists and related material for the construction work
  • Review of Contractors project schedule to ensure it meets all due dates cited herein
  • Coordinate Construction site activities with Authority site availability
  • Ensuring compliance with the contractors' and client's quality programs. Responsible for all project deliverables and coordination of quality reviews of materials prior to delivery to client
  • Coordinate, manage and report on the overall program budget, schedule, risks, risk mitigation strategies to the PM
  • Conduct all project meetings (weekly meetings anticipated) with contractors, and client at client's offices, at their discretion, to manage the program
  • Coordinate Contractor's field activities with access to Transit facilities and track
  • Ensure timely processing of submittals, Requests for Information (RFI), potential change orders (PCO), transmittals and change orders
  • Conduct site visits and participate in progress meetings to monitor project progress, quality control, testing and acceptance of the equipment and systems
  • Coordinate with the Program Manager to develop a Lessons Learned Report.
Education | Experience:

Transit Rail experience preferred

WMATA experience preferred

  • Must have a minimum of a bachelor's degree in project or Construction management, Electrical Engineering, business, or related field,
  • A minimum of 10 years demonstrable experience managing large projects, and experience in the construction of or renewal of Transit Rail Facilities
  • Experience with track and rail systems preferred
  • Proven ability to manage complex budgets and schedules
  • Ability to read electrical engineering drawings and architectural drawings;
  • Must possess a PMP, CAPM, or CSCM and/or Certified Construction Manager (CCM) certification;
  • Must have proven ability to manage complex budgets and schedules
  • Must have knowledge of working in a government environment
  • Must be able to pass a government background check
  • Must be able to work in confined spaces
  • Must have reliable transportation
  • May be required to travel out-of-state to conduct manufacturer inspections of facilities, and witness any factory acceptance testing as required by the PM.

Core Business Hours: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Employment Status: Full-Time

Salary Range: $150,000 - $175,000

Salary dependent upon experience and geographic location
