Job Description
Summary:
The Linux Administrator is responsible for all aspects of systems administration, including servers, applications, and systems engineering support for Linux-based systems. 

The individual will be responsible for Administering and Maintaining our Engineering environment which includes but not limited to Applications, Servers, and workstations in both Linux and Windows environments.

The incumbent will also provide troubleshooting and end user support following Thales IT guidelines.  This role has responsibilities in secure areas and must follow all relevant rules and guidelines.


Qualification Requirements:
U.S. Citizenship REQUIRED, and ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security clearance upon hire.

Education:
Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience can be substituted for degree (ie. 3-5 years experience)

Experience and Skills:
  • U.S. Citizenship Required - Ability to obtain and maintain US Secret Level Security Clearance upon hire.
  • 3 - 6+ years of job related IT experience. 
  • 4 year IT degree preferred.
  • Ability to travel to Abingdon MD, and once per week to Clarksburg MD.
  • Ability to participate in after hours and weekend support as required for special projects and recurring maintenance.
  • Strong knowledge in administering a Linux environment (RedHat Preferred).
  • Experience with containerization on Linux systems.
  • Ability to provision/install, configure and troubleshoot Linux servers and workstations including associated peripherals.
  • Familiarity with infrastructure automation tools such as Ansible and Satellite.
  • Experience Administering, maintaining, patching and upgrading the Linux operating system.
  • Experience with writing scripts to aid in automation of installation and configuration tasks on Linux systems.
  • Familiarity with operating within a virtualized environment on virtualized Linux workstations and servers.
  • Capability to work with other technical team members to assess needs, provide assistance, and resolve technical problems; understand engagement objectives which includes a clear understanding of the client's business problem and how the engagement helps address the client's business problem.
  • Ability to comply with all Company guidelines, policies, procedures and embrace Company Core Values. 
Licensures, Certifications:
  • RHEL Certification is a plus
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Provide system administration, and systems engineering support for Linux-based systems.
  • Install, configure and maintain Linux servers and workstations in multiple stand-alone and networked environments.
  • Install and configure packages and applications on Linux systems as needed. 
  • Harden Linux workstations and servers in a mixed environment based upon classified security requirements (SITG/FIPS/etc.).
  • Utilize automation tools such as Satellite and Ansible to provision and deploy Linux workstations and servers. 
  • Utilize automation tools such as Satellite and Ansible to configure and install server applications running on Linux and operating systems.
  • Monitor Linux workstation and server performance, and troubleshoot performance issues as needed.
  • Troubleshoot and correct general break/fix issues on Linux workstations and servers as needed. 
  • Automate routine tasks and processes on Linux systems using cron or other scheduling methodologies. 
  • Manage, maintain and update Linux workstation and server system baselines as needed. 
  • Maintain system documentation and records, including changes to system baselines and configurations. 
  • Perform regular patching of Linux workstation and server operating systems. 
Scope of Responsibility:
Responsible for all aspects of systems administration, including servers, applications, and systems engineering support for Linux-based systems.
