What does a great Data Scientist do?

Should be able to lead, research, innovate, develop and deploy machine learning models. Should be able to partner with other data scientists and engineers to scale and deploy machine learning models in production for large scale data sets. Should be hands-on in data wrangling of big data and develop math/statistical models for the business problems. Should be able to communicate and present the findings to various business stakeholders and senior management.

Responsibilities include:

  • Collaborate with product and engineering teams, develop statistical insights, and build machine learning algorithms and products for various Travelport business problems
  • Lead machine learning modeling, development, and analysis from beginning to end
  • Design and report on A/B tests for new and modified machine learning algorithms
  • Execute analytical experiments methodically to help solve various business problems and make an impact in the business
  • Evaluate machine learning algorithms via model training, and develop predictive models to test on data
  • Work with big data and engage in data mining and exploratory analyses on large datasets

Who we are looking for in this role:

  • MS or PhD degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or any related field
  • 2-5 years of experience working in data science programs
  • Experience with programming languages and big data technologies for data science like Python, SQL, PySpark, Hadoop, Spark Scala
  • Experience processing, filtering, and building machine learning algorithms with large scale data (Millions to Billions of rows)
  • Demonstrable track record of dealing well with ambiguity, prioritizing needs, and delivering results in a dynamic environment with several ongoing concurrent projects

Salary Target/Range: $100,000 - $130,000

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.
