Estimated annual base pay: $129,100 (minimum) - $161,400 (midpoint) - $193,700 (maximum)

The Senior Staff Engineer, Engineering Reliability reports to the Engineering Leader and is responsible for complex product/system design, mentoring, driving process improvements, strategic planning, and presentations. This position provides new intellectual property to the organization, as well as technical leadership to the enterprise. The Senior Staff Engineer provides leadership in the development of industry standards and has a high level of industry/Customer contact and industry awareness. This position participates in enterprise negotiation as well as providing technical evaluation of new opportunities within the PLC process. The Senior Staff Engineer develops roadmaps and sets technical strategy and direction, and has a strong relationship with Customer, Supplier, individuals, and organizations on a systems/standards basis.
What you will be doing...
Work closely with Electrical and Mechanical Engineers throughout the Development Life Cycle to ensure Product Reliability and MTBF requirements are achieved
Lead the design and execution of reliability test plans for complex electronic systems in accordance with MIL-HDBK-217 and other critical standards
Develop short-term and long-term roadmaps for continuous improvement in component selection, design and analysis capability to ensure products have industry-leading MTBF
Perform simulations and design analysis throughout the Development Life Cycle including FEA, Thermal and Vibration
Drive the integration of reliability principles throughout the Development Life Cycle
Author technical reliability reports and present findings to stakeholders
What we are looking for...
Advanced degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
Over 12 years of experience in senior reliability engineering roles, with a strong emphasis on electronic and mechanical systems
Expertise in MIL-HDBK-217, reliability modeling, and statistical reliability analysis
Proven track record of leading reliability initiatives in a high-tech, fast-paced environment
Experience with ANSYS Simulation Software Tools including Mechanical, Icepak, Sherlock,
Experience with DO-254
Experience applying DFSS tools and methodologies
Solid knowledge of engineering quality systems (examples: Product Life Cycle, engineering change, configuration management)
Highly refined written/verbal communication skills and demonstrated ability in giving presentations; expert technical writing skills (procedures, reports, etc.). Represents Woodward in the industry.
Demonstrated leadership skills; ability to drive results across organizational boundaries
Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt a plus
