Our Transportation Civil Engineering Unit focuses on roadways, track/rail and transit, transportation structures and construction management and inspection services. We are seeking a highly motivated Structural Engineering Project Manager to join our Civil Engineering Team. This position will sit in Baltimore, MD.

Responsibilities include:

  • Preparation of structural design for transportation structures (to include bridges, retaining walls, culverts, overhead signs, structure condition inspections, reports, studies, specifications, performing load ratings/analysis and managing task order contracts/ projects)
  • Developing new business by identifying opportunities and prospect clients; and leading proposal preparetion in pursuit of new work
  • Preparing and overseeing structures condition inspections, designs, reports, studies, specifications, provisions and construction documents for highway transportation structures
  • Developing the design structural components for bridges and related structures of various complexity; cost estimates; developing bridge components for contracts drawings and construction sequencing; performing load ratings/analysis; mentoring junior staff; assisting with business development; serving as the project manager as necessary
  • This position has the opportunity to eventually lead and supervise the structural engineering team
  • Some travel will be required

The successful candidate will have all the following:

  • Bachelor's degree (or higher) in civil or structural engineering
  • At least eight years of relevant work experience
  • A PE license in any state with ability to obtain in Maryland within six months of start date

The ideal candidate will have any/all the following:

  • Experience leading structural engineering projects for DOT and Rail / Transit Agencies
  • Experience with MDOT Maryland Transit Authority (MTA) or Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority is preferred.
  • Preparing and reviewing technical proposals to include scope of services for transportation or facility construction projects for state and local government agencies.
  • Experience serving as a technical lead on transportation and facility structures design projects.
  • Successful experience managing projects including timeliness, budget, and quality.
  • Experience coordinating with other agencies and permitting authorities.
  • Structural analysis and design software experience (LARS, Merlin-Dash, STAAD, MicroStation, AutoCAD, Bluebeam)
  • Remedial engineering and new structures design project experience
