We are seeking a self-motivated and enthusiastic professional that is well-versed in government travel regulations to lead APL's Travel Program. As the program manager, you will work closely with the travel group, APL leadership, suppliers, and traveler community to elevate the team's impact to the organization and build and sustain a culture of excellence and cross-enterprise collaboration. You will develop and lead the implementation of operational transformation activities that aligns with the program vision for a seamless and adaptable travel experience in a dynamic government contracting environment.
We are looking for someone with a focus on partnering, who is detail oriented with a continuous process improvement approach and excellent organizational, prioritization and interpersonal skills. Success is maintaining accuracy in a fast-paced environment.

As a Travel Program Manager...

  • Your primary responsibility will be to drive a strategy for the travel program that focuses on enhancing user experiences, promotes cost efficacy, and ensures effectiveness of risk management activities. Your industry experience, talent for building successful relationships, solution-centric approach, and flexibility will be instrumental in offering ideas to improve travel practices, maximize use of suppliers' services and features, and adapt as requirements change and/or evolve. Your knowledge of user needs and government requirements is instrumental to advancing efficiencies through practice improvement and technical innovation.
  • As the primary point of contact for the team, we expect you to identify, assess, interpret, and present operational performance information, economic trends and market changes, new and evolving regulations and requirements, travel risk areas, and peer benchmarking data that enables realization of the strategy. You will also evaluate and resolve escalated travel program concerns/issues.
  • Using your strong interpersonal and communication skills, you will work collaboratively across APL to foster a partnering approach that elevates the team's impact to the organization, identifies emerging opportunities, and expertly guides travelers through the intricacies of government regulations.
  • You will perform other travel program duties as assigned, including Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA) audit requests

Qualifications

You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you...

  • Possess a BS in Accounting or Business Administration or equivalent years of travel industry experience
  • Have 10 years of travel industry professional experience with 5 or more years performing in a Travel Manager role
  • Have experience in a Department of Defense (DoD) or government contracting environment and sound working knowledge of government travel regulations (IRS, FAR, FTR, and JTR)
  • Have a background with travel and expense solutions for government contractors
  • Demonstrate the ability to think strategically and lead valuable change in a useful and sustainable manner
  • Proven ability to be a self-starter, show a high level of initiative, and can analyze and resolve challenges independently and in a team-based setting
  • Are able to collaboratively perform in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
  • Exhibit strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to form and sustain trusted relationships across all levels of staff and vendors
  • Have a strong desire to learn and can easily adapt to changing environments
  • Are excellent at multitasking, extracting data needs, prioritizing assignments, communicating progress, and meeting deadlines
  • Exhibit outstanding attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Show a proficiency with business and office applications including Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Adobe
