We are seeking a self-motivated and enthusiastic Travel Program Coordinator for APL's Travel Program that is well-versed in government travel regulations. As the project manager, you will work closely with the Travel Program Manager to develop and deliver a strategic execution plan that aligns with the program vision for a seamless and adaptable travel experience in a dynamic government contracting environment.

We are looking for someone with a focus on partnering, who is detail oriented with a continuous process improvement approach and excellent organizational, prioritization and interpersonal skills. Success is maintaining accuracy in a fast-paced environment.

As a Travel Program Coordinator...

  • Your primary responsibility will be to provide thought leadership and deliver projects in support of the program's strategic plan that focuses on enhancing user experiences, promotes cost efficacy, and ensures effectiveness of risk management activities. Your industry experience, talent for building successful relationships, solution-centric approach, and flexibility will be instrumental in offering ideas to improve travel practices, promote adaptability that supports a swift business environment, and perform as a liaison between APL Business and IT Services and external supplier teams to understand user needs.
  • You will serve as the travel compliance coordinator to ensure effective monitoring and management of travel risk areas and compliance with government regulations and contract requirements. Your interest in critical thinking and effective problem-solving skills will facilitate timely and applicable solutions that are advantageous in a fast-paced and transient environment.
  • Using your strong interpersonal and communication skills, you will design and deliver training and education needed for effective utilization by all stakeholders that expertly guides travelers through the intricacies of government regulations.
  • You will perform other travel program duties as assigned, including Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA) audit requests.

Qualifications

You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you...

  • Possess a BS in Accounting or Business Administration or equivalent years of travel industry experience
  • Have 5 years of travel industry professional experience
  • Have experience in a Department of Defense (DoD) or government contracting environment and sound working knowledge of government travel regulations (IRS, FAR, FTR, and JTR)
  • Have a background with travel and expense solutions for government contractors
  • Demonstrate the ability to think strategically and lead valuable change in a useful and sustainable manner
  • Proven ability to be a self-starter, show a high level of initiative, and can analyze and resolve challenges independently and in a team-based setting
  • Are able to collaboratively perform in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
  • Exhibit strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to form and sustain trusted relationships across all levels of staff and vendors
  • Have a strong desire to learn and can easily adapt to changing environments
  • Are excellent at multitasking, extracting data needs, prioritizing assignments, communicating progress, and meeting deadlines
  • Exhibit outstanding attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Show a proficiency with business and office applications including Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Adobe
