Job Description

Great Hillis seeking a Digital Media and Production Assistant (Russian language capability 3/3 or C-1 Required) to support our government client in Washington, DC.

SUMMARY

The individual will lead digital content production efforts in messaging to Russian speakers both in Russia and the diaspora for the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs' Press and Public Diplomacy Rapid Response Unit (EUR/PPD/RRU). The individual would oversee the development of visual and audio materials critical to advancing Bureau and Department public diplomacy initiatives. This individual would also assist in the evaluation and assessment of digital public diplomacy content as part of a broader effort to refine and bolster the effectiveness of strategic communication initiatives to Russians. This position reports directly to the RRU Chief who exercises general control over the work of the position by establishing overall objectives for the assignment in coordination with lateral teams and Bureau leadership.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • In coordination with the EUR/PPD StratComm team and the GEC, quickly identify key narratives that demand a USG response.
  • Working with GPA, GEC, and EUR/PPD StratComm, draft and create social media content (videos and graphics) to dispel key Kremlin disinformation narratives. Liaise with Embassy Moscow PDS and the Brussels Media Hub to develop original Russian-language social media content for placement on their platforms. Content should be creative, culturally appropriate for Russian audiences, consistent with Department strategic messaging goals, and timely.
  • The position may also support the EUR/PPD StratComm Unit with other messaging to European audiences as needed.
  • Support EUR/PPD and the GEC on additional countering disinformation-related tasks as directed.
  • Lead in the creation of audio and visual digital media content directed toward Russian-speaking audiences.
  • Support the development of RRU-led digital diplomacy and digital strategic communication campaigns.
  • Aid in the collection and management of relevant social media metrics and design of campaign effectiveness measures.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's Degree (or higher) in media production, communications, journalism, or related field.

OR

  • 1 to 3 years of experience using and managing social media audio and visual content production.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Requires an Active SECRET Security Clearance;
  • Efficient skills with audio and visual digital content tools such as Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Premier, Canva, and/or Final Cut.
  • Working knowledge of photography, videography, and design principles.
  • Demonstrated capability to independently produce digital content products under tight deadlines.
  • Proven capacity to develop and implement a content strategy for an institutional social media account.
  • Able to identify, and advocate for, alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
  • Working knowledge of social and digital media analytics and performance indicators.
  • Able to set priorities and work in a group environment or independently.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work within a team and coordinate with supervisors and a wide range of stakeholders
