Summary:

The Office of Renewable Energy Programs (OREP), under the Department of Interior, is experiencing a significant workload increase associated with the Administration's target of completing the full environmental and technical reviews of 16 Construction and Operations plans for offshore wind projects by the end of 2025. As a result, the OREP needs to be able to quickly adjust to increases and decreases in administrative, professional, and other support services. Personnel are required to provide administrative, professional, and other support services in several different areas of work for the OREP.

Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions:

    Applies writing and editing skills and specialized vocabulary of appropriate subject matter fields to develop and review accurate communication materials with environmental, scientific, and technical information suited to various audiences.
  • Gathers technical information from subject matter experts and others and applies experience in editing to analyze, interpret, and integrate technical information in various formats.
  • Prepares products developed by others for publication and ensuring the materials are clear, comprehensible, logical, and conclusions are valid and supported by references to facts.
  • Reviews documents and written materials to ensure communications products are consistent with DOI policy, adhere to Section 508 Compliance requirements, meet BOEM style requirements and are written at an appropriate level for the intended audiences.
  • Articulates, explains, writes, and edits technical information clearly without sacrificing thoroughness and accuracy.
  • Advises and assists in the writing phase of documents and reports, consults on design and graphics, ensures 508 compliance requirements are incorporated, and prepares material for printing or posting on the website and other social media.
  • Coordinates and collaborates with OREP's scientific and technical experts to ensure accuracy and quality of the content of documents and information.
Qualifications

Necessary Skills and Knowledge:

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong customer service acumen and professional demeanor.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to adapt to a fast-paced work/office environment and maintain accuracy under pressure.
  • Competency in managing schedules, documentation, and automated systems.
  • Ability to interpret and analyze complex information.
  • Capacity to work independently within the bounds and guidelines of contract and customer requirements.
  • Proficiency in using the Microsoft Office Suite.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor of Science
  • 3 years of related work experience.
  • Previous experience with 508 compliance requirements.
  • US Citizen.
  • Ability to successfully pass a background check.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous work experience with the Federal Government.
  • Previous experience or expertise in wind energy and environmental science.
  • Previous experience in a scientific research organization.

The salary range for this position is $85,000 - $95,000.
