Job Description

We are seeking an Educational Consultant. The Center for Technology in Education implements a wide range of technical assistance, professional development, and research-based initiatives that support selected international, federal, state, and local education and leadership projects. The Center is recruiting applicants for an Educational Consultant for Early Intervention & Inclusive Practice. The primary function of this position is to develop a cohesive professional development program for early intervention professional staff at different stages of their careers to increase their knowledge of evidence-based practices and their ability to use this knowledge to provide services to families.


Specific Duties & Responsibilities


Planning and Consultation - (20%)

  • Work collaboratively with state and local leaders to examine the current professional development program, including the technologies and infrastructure used to deliver, track, and manage the learning.
  • Review recommendations from early childhood technical assistance centers, such as ECPC, DaSy, and ECTA, and models used by other states.


Development - (40%)

  • Create a conceptual framework for a revised professional development program for early intervention and preschool special education providers at all levels, from newly hired staff to local leadership.
  • Develop an action plan that includes the learning areas, content, timelines, and strategies for providing training.
  • Select at least one learning area for development and lead the work of assigned personnel to create the content and learning assets for one content area module.


Implementation- (30%)

  • Collaborate with CTE and local and state leadership to determine the best platform for delivering the learning and tracking participants' progress.
  • Determine the most effective channels for dissemination to the target audience.


Project Management - (10%)

  • Attend project management planning meetings and provide documentation and data for progress reporting and evaluation.


Special Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • This role requires independent management of work schedules, production timelines, and deadlines.
  • Communication with internal and external participants related to assigned projects. Internal contacts include CTE and School of Education personnel. External contacts include state early intervention leadership, local Part C and Part B district personnel, and staff from federally funded technical assistance centers.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Master's Degree required.
  • Two years of experience required.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Five years related experience preferred, including,
  • Working in or with state agencies, local early intervention programs, local school districts, and national technical assistance providers.
  • Providing technical assistance training at targeted and intensive levels, including the use of online learning technology.
  • Developing print and online resources in the field of early intervention, such as authentic child and family assessment, specially designed instruction, formative assessment, reflective coaching, and the child outcomes summary process.
  • Proficiency with problem-solving, decision-making, and project management.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment to meet project deadlines with a high level of autonomy.
  • Strong organizational, administrative, teamwork, and communication skills.
  • Understanding early childhood technical assistance models and other supports for the early childhood workforce.

Starting Salary Range: $28.30 - $50.00 HRLY ($50.00 HRLY targeted; Commensurate with experience)
