General Summary

Under general supervision but in compliance with Credit Union policies and procedures, assists the Branch Manager in the day-to-day organization and direction of branch operations. Ensures that account, teller, and loan services are provided in a manner consistent with Credit Union policy, practice, and goals.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assists in directing the operation of member service and teller operations, ensuring a trained, motivated, professional staff capable of providing efficient and effective services to members.
  • Assists the Branch Manager in overseeing the operation of teller and member services. Works with the Branch Manager to ensure proper scheduling, adherence to established policies, and the provision of quality cashier services.
  • Utilizes tact and experience-based knowledge to resolve complex member problems, explaining specific account and loan policies and procedures, while representing the Credit Union in a professional manner and maintaining positive member relations.
  • Assists the Branch Manager in interviewing, scheduling, training, assigning work, evaluating, and recommending the discipline and discharge of subordinates, while maintaining proper personnel records.
  • Assists in providing individual employees with regular performance feedback, to include monthly review of incentive program and other measures of performance. Coaches and counsels employees and assists in conducting staff meetings on operational matters, sales initiatives, etc. Helps to coordinate mandatory training requirements for each employee and initiate specialized training as needed.
  • Reviews sales reports of MSOs. Makes recommendation to Branch Manager on sales bonus and recognition of superior sales efforts.
  • Monitors branch traffic flow and ensure members and potential members are served in a timely fashion by utilizing cross-trained staff in the appropriate areas. Assistant Branch Manager will also assist on the teller line, or the platform area as needed.
  • Serves as Branch Manager when necessary.
  • Coordinates and ensures compliance with audit requirements.
  • Complies with all applicable Rules, Regulations and Statutes of the NCUA and other appropriate governing bodies to include but not limited to: the Credit Union Bylaws, Credit Union Code of Conduct, Credit Union Employee Guidebook, Bank Secrecy/Anti-Money Laundering Act, Fair Housing Act, Fair Lending Act, and Fair Credit Reporting Act.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Experience and Skills


Education/Experience: High school diploma or equivalent and (5) five years relevant experience or Bachelor's degree in business or related field and one (1) year relevant experience required.

Experience: One year of progressively responsible experience in consumer lending, teller operations, collections, new accounts, banking regulations and overall branch operations required.

Skills: Working knowledge of all aspects of consumer lending required. Excellent math and analytical skills required. Ability to manage multiple tasks and supervise multiple people in a fast paced environment. Excellent problem-solving skills required. Proficiency with PC applications such as Outlook, Word and Excel required.

Communication: Excellent oral and written communication skills required. Ability to communicate in a professional and effective manner with all levels of Credit Union staff, vendors, Board Members, and members.

Supervisory: Minimum of (1) one year of managerial experience required.
