Job Description

Utz Quality Foods is seeking a QAFS Specialist in Hanover, PA. The Quality and Food Safety Specialist will work across the Hanover campus to support the QAFS teams at each site. This will include working with cross functional teams to ensure routine tasks are completed as well as supporting the teams in the absence of QAFS leadership. This position will require a full knowledge of SQF Systems, Utz ERP System(D365) and Red Zone compliance software. This position may require visiting each site on a routine basis or as needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Backfill Hanover QAFS leadership team in their absence. Requirements may include unannounced audits, QAFS incidents, plant meetings, and more
  • Support plant teams with QAFS process improvement projects
  • Complete work instruction reviews, updates, and communications
  • Support Hanover QAFS team with work in Trace Gains, Redzone, D365, EAM, or other systems
  • Create and train on QAFS topics as well as maintain training registers
  • Assist in the plant annual reviews including risk assessments, food safety plans, verifications/validations, and more
  • Ensure redzone document reviews are completed and findings are addressed
  • Complete data collection for internal or external projects and requests
  • Support monthly QAFS plant tasks including environmental monitoring, GMP audits, chemical inventories, food safety meetings, and more
  • Assist in sanitation activities including visual inspections, allergen swabbing, ATP swabbing, and more
  • General support in audits including SQF, FDA, PA Dept. of Ag, Organic, GFCO, Customer, and others

Requirements

  • High school graduate required. Food science or comparable degree preferred with experience in manufacturing quality assurance and food safety.
  • Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Suite, Share Point, Trace Gains and Redzone compliance software.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and desire and ability to interact with all levels of the enterprise.
  • Strong critical thinking skills.
  • Fundamental math skills.
  • Knowledge of snack food operations preferred.
